Funeral of ITBMU's Dean

Here is my original speech during the Funeral of ITBMU's Dean Dr. U Kosalla

Rector !
Pro-rector !
Teachers!
Dhamma Brothers and Sisters !

I, on behalf of Cambodian students, would like to pay our gratitude and deep respect to our great teacher Sayàdaw U kosalla, who passed away recently.

“How do we find the right words to describe our feelings for the large, sweet Soul that has gone? Some of us have lost a father, a grandfather relatives and so on, but today we have all lost a very good Sayàdaw” .

“Sayàda,in his life time, stood as the luminous light in our university, his absence is like the disappearance of the light of the sun and the moon in the world.”

“Sayàdaw was a man of great character, with a very high level of intellect, an honest monk who gave his time freely to all who sought his guidance. To all of us who consider him as our teacher, he was “ one-in-a-thousand ”, and in our lifetime we will never meet his like again”.

Dhamma brohers and sisters!
“Whenever we had a problem, no matter how trivial, or personal in nature, Sayàdaw would take the time to talk with us, solve our problem, and always help us to find a positive outcome. If nothing else, he was always positive in his outlook on life, and he helped all of us to see things in the same kind of way” .
Above all else, Sayàdaw was a monk of great integrity and purity ...a monk whom we loved, ...and a monk whom we will remember forever, we were incredibly fortunate to know and learn from him. Furthermore, we will strive to keep his teaching alive in everything we do and in our hearts from this time onwards.

Finally, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all teachers and Dhamma friends who give us this auspicious chance to take part in sharing our condolence in the farewell ceremony of Sayàdaw U Kosalla.

May Sayàdaw attain the happy state of existence.
May all of you be well and happy.

Thank you !

My booklet on Meditation Method

Meditation Practice.
In ITBM University, all students are compulsory to join in Meditation Hall of University every Thursday morning from 8 AM to 10 AM punctually. At the class we study the theory, at the same time, the practical application and experience is obviously required.

My Booklet on Meditation practice

Recently, I have finished my translation and compilation on the method of practicing insight Meditation ( Vipassana Samadhi) into Cambodian Language. This booklet is mainly described about the method to practice and my own experience in meditation after energetically and precisely training for almost three-year at University in both practical and theory, especially at two famous Meditation Centres , Mahasi and Chanmyay Meditation Centres, and about the Tradition and Culture of Myanmar people in brief. The instruction of meditation in this booklet is under the guideline of Chanmyay Sayadaw, a famous meditation Teacher in Myanmar, and of whom he is a qualified meditation teacher to have bee recognized around the world nowadays.

Besides, I ambitiously plan to print it out about 5,000 books at the end of April or at the beginning of May 2009. If any Buddhists who want to donate the cash for printing, are warmly welcome. Every name of donors will be listed at the end of pages of this book.

There are many different kinds of Buddhist monks, just as there re many different types of Buddhism. Their life and customs are different and unique, and each has a spiritual meaning. There is a certain code the monks must follow and certain rules that must be obeyed. Their daily life follows a strict schedule, and each monk's life revolves around meditation, the study of scriptures, and the taking apart in ceremonies. His daily life involves interaction with the community around him and with his fellow monks.

Each kind of monk has a different life style, as there are much unique kind of monks just as there are many different ways that they can live. Renunciate monks fall under one of two categories, those who live in a monastic community and those who live in a hermit like state, who are referred to as forest monks. The forest monk lives to the virtual dismissal of all activities non-related to the pursuit of enlightenment. Then there is the temple monk who is occasionally involved in lay community affairs, such as participating in Buddhist holy days. they are can also be involved in the teaching of novice monks, short-term monks, or laymen or laywomen.A temple monk’s pastoral activity is a transaction between monks and householders; this is where a monk confers merit upon a layman. In gratitude and respect the layman may offer food, money, and other everyday items or he could offer a ritual item such as a candle.
