The Sixth Great Buddhist Council


The sixth great Buddhist council (chhattha sangayana)

On the full moon day of Visak(may, 1954) the Sixth Great Buddhist Council was held in the Mahapasana great cave,kaba-aye,Yangong,Myanmar.

The doctrinal question asked by the people of five theravada countries : Myanmar, Srilank, Cambodia,Thailand,Laos,were solved. Twenty-five other countries also gave much help to that council.

As for Cambodian delegations let by The Most Venerable Choun Nat known as the King of Buddhism and Khmer Literature who had arranged Khmer Dictionary.

At that time, not only canonical Pali Texts of the Buddha but also the commentaries and sub-commentaries we re-examined.
